After watching the cutest stop motion videos online, courtesy of a few amazing Youtubers, I decided to make one of my own. I just felt inspired and needed to break in my camcorder anyway (which happens to be pretty awesome). The video is short and sweet - made from 83 still shots. Enjoy!

The character in this short video is one I've drawn on paper before. I am now used to referring to him as "Mr. Noodles". He is THE FACE of The Nightly Noodle, an online ministry group that sends out messages of inspiration, encouragement, and scriptures via Twitter and Facebook. They also have an online clothing shop with the same powerful messages.
My original idea was to set up the room shown in the picture and have the noodle dancing [the Azonto] to music, but my plot quickly changed as I worked on setting everything up.

STOPMOTION VIDEO101 - WHAT DO YOU NEED?
  • Model clay (NOT Play-doh or Potter's Clay- trust me!)
  • A camera, webcam, or camcorder
  • A background (can be a simple white board or cardboard)
  • Editing program (I used Windows Movie Maker)
  • A story line (quite optional, haha)
  • Patience!
The idea is to capture as many photos as possible, while moving your character slightly between every shot. Then you put all of you frames onto one storyboard, shorten the length of each picture as much as possible, and then press play. Voila! You can add words, music, etc as you wish or as your experience allows.

Below are some pictures of our movie star, Mr. Noodles (L-R: illustration art from October '12, BTS during the shoot, director's view of the set).
